How to remove Copilot icon from PowerPoint (without disabling Copilot)

I have taken this from another user, but I do agree with them. I'd rather remove Copilot and get back my powerpoint view! I do not need to see this icon and its taking up too much space of my display.

Please fix asap.
I am using Copilot in MS 365 Apps for Enterprise which I want to keep.

In PowerPoint, apart from having a Copilot button in the Ribbon, there is an icon right above the slide. This results in PowerPoint considering it like a piece of content and reserves about 15% of the viewable screen for the icon and empty content next to it above the actual slide.

This, of course, is problematic as you either need to zoom out so that you can see all the slide (and 15% of your slide view is empty), or when zooming in to view your slide normally, you need to scroll down to see the bottom of your slide (instead of the empty air and the Copilot icon on top).

So please, either remove the icon altogether (you need the same amount of clicks to do the same actions anyway given that there is a Copilot button in the Ribbon), or find a way so that vertical slide alignment to not be affected by the Copilot icon being there.

Example of the problem is below.

    Hi @Catherine Chapman

I totally understand the inconvenience this issue has brought to you.

There are other users on the Internet who have reported the same request.

If needed, you may try to create a second window (View>New Window), then minimize or close the first one. Based on my tests, this icon does not appear in the newly created window.

(This workaround is shared by Williams, Carrie from thread: How do I remove the Copilot icon from slide view in PowerPoint?)

Besides, I suggest you vote up this thread: Copilot icon in slide view is a major annoyance. More people vote for it, the need louder.

    Thanks for your understanding.

Copilot icon taking up valuable screen space in PowerPoint. Unfortunately, there isn't a direct way to remove the Copilot icon without disabling Copilot entirely. However, here are a few suggestions that might help improve your experience:

    1. Adjust Zoom Level: While this doesn't remove the icon, adjusting the zoom level can help you better manage the viewable area of your slides. You can zoom out to see the entire slide or zoom in and scroll as needed.
    2. Feedback to Microsoft: Providing feedback directly to Microsoft can help bring attention to this issue. You can do this by going to the Help menu in PowerPoint and selecting "Feedback." Describe the problem and suggest improvements.
    3. Check for Updates: Ensure that your Office apps are up to date. Sometimes, updates include fixes and improvements based on user feedback. If the answer is helpful, please click "Accept Answer" and kindly upvote it. If you have extra questions about this answer, please click "Comment".
