Hi Ketan Bharat | MAQ Software,

Thank you for reaching out to us on Microsoft Q&A forum.

The reason the Q&A setup option is disabled in your Power BI report is due to the live connection to a semantic model (such as an Analysis Services model or a shared Power BI dataset). Here’s why:

Power BI’s Q&A feature requires an imported data model because it depends on having the data locally within Power BI to process natural language questions effectively. In a live connection setup, data remains in its source location and is queried in real-time, which limits Power BI’s control over the data model. Without direct access to the data structure, Q&A functionality cannot be enabled, as Power BI cannot perform the necessary analyses on the data.

If enabling Q&A is essential for your report, an option would be to switch from a live connection to an imported data model. This would allow Power BI to handle and interpret the data, making Q&A available.

If you are still facing any issue, please let us know in the comments and where you are encountering this error along with the screenshot for reference. We are glad to help you.
