Ethernet drops internet connection constantly.

Question

I recently upgraded my modem/router as suggested by my ISP. They sent me a Hitron CODA-4680 just over a week ago. Ever since I’ve had this router/ modem combo, I’ve had nothing but issues staying online. The Ethernet seems to disconnect automatically every few minutes, even though I’m “connected” to wifi….ive ran the windows troubleshooter (I contacted the isp also etc and followed their instructions) checked cables are secure etc…reset the network, replugged it directly to the wall socket (rather than the power-bar), unplugged the power from the router and restarted it multiple times, it still can’t keep a steady connection. The lights on the Hitron just blank out completely and there’s no sign of life unless I unplug the power and restart it again…its located close to my PC desktop, printer, TV etc. ( I have my smart tv connected to wifi, and my internet phone (Ooma) on the router) I had the same setup with my old router/ modem and never had these problems… I have Ethernet enabled and then connect to wifi. Even if wifi connected, the Ethernet shows no internet. Can you think of something I may have missed? It’s very frustrating to say the least 😉 I need internet to work from home on certain days.

Sometimes, using both Ethernet and WiFi on the same device can cause conflicts. Try disabling WiFi on your PC if you’re using Ethernet, or vice versa, to see if one connection type is more stable than the other.

Device Manager > Network Adapters, right-click on the Ethernet adapter, and select Properties. Under the Power Management tab, uncheck the option that allows the computer to turn off the device to save power.

You could connect your old router to the Hitron and use it as an access point.

This would help determine if the issue is with the Hitron's routing or its modem function.
