Send data from azure sphere Client device to Azure sphere Server device using TCP connection Issue

Hi. I have tried using the PrivateNetworkServices sample from Github to receive data from my PC using Ethernet and it worked. I have set "eth0" as network interface but it always shows wlan0 as DHCPclient. I dont know why. I used the above Server code in my azure device 1 and put Client code in 2nd azure device. Now I am trying to Send data from a Azure sphere Starter kit device to another starter kit. I used the Client code provided in this link to send data. Unable to use Azure Sphere device as TCP Client I have added 192.168.100.9 to my client device and Set 192.168.100.10 to my server device. I have put destination IP 192.168.100.9 is app_manifest.json on Client device using 11000 port on both devices. Still I cant make the connection between these devices. Please let me know what could be causing the problem. Thank you.

Hi,

The item circled in the first image (r.e. DhcpClient) is correct for an interface that is enabled without a static IP configured. This is indicated in the second image where you run azsphere device network list-interfaces the output shows that wlan0 is enabled but has dynamic ip assignment. As for eth0, it is enabled and configured with a static IP address. No DHCP is required because of the static IP address.

Diagnosing why your failing configuration is not possible with the data you have so far provided.

Here are some questions to explore:

Have you verified settings in app_manifest.json ? Your client device will need to have 192.168.100.10 added to the app manifest in order to communicate with the "server" and the server device will need to have 192.168.100.9 specified as well.

Is data sent by one device being received by the other?

Can you verify bytes are being set across the ethernet interface?

I have added 192.168.100.10 in my client code and 192.168.100.9 in my Server code in app_manifest.json.

The error is shown in the image.

Is there any way to test server code with my PC to make sure data is sent?

The code available from stack overflow used in your app opens a socket in non-blocking mode and calls connect. If connect cannot establish a connection immediately, it will return an error of EINPROGRESS (115).

If the connection cannot be established immediately and O_NONBLOCK is set for the file descriptor for the socket, connect() shall fail and set errno to [EINPROGRESS], but the connection request shall not be aborted, and the connection shall be established asynchronously. Subsequent calls to connect() for the same socket, before the connection is established, shall fail and set errno to [EALREADY]. When the connection has been established asynchronously, select() and poll() shall indicate that the file descriptor for the socket is ready for writing.

I'd suggest you simplify your test set up and your application. An Azure Sphere can indeed communicate over Ethernet to a PC.
