azure front door endpoint getting ECONNREFUSED for few requests

The application which communicates with azure front door endpoint is getting ECONNREFUSED for few requests.

As per the client, the request is getting refused when Front door's frontend has the IP address of 13.107.246.52.

The requests work if the IP address is 13.107.253.40.

Do we have any problem with the IP address of 13.107.246.52?

If no, how to resolve this issue. It's happening randomly.

Please make sure that there are no IP restrictions or firewall rules that might be blocking requests to the IP address 13.107.246.52

Hi Sai Prasanna,

Ensure that there are no issues with DNS resolution that could lead to intermittent failures when resolving the Front Door endpoint. I have hunch on this. I think this is the reason for intermittent failures. I configured TTL 30minutes for the DNS configuration. So, This DNS record might not be propagated to remaining DNS servers by the time request made. So, the DNS resolution could not have been done.

What can we do if this is the problem? Should we adjust TTL? Is there something we can do on Azure front door end point side?

Sorry for the delay in the response.

Please make sure that the DNS resolution failures are actually happening due to the TTL or not. You can monitor DNS resolution failures by reviewing logs like application logs, Azure Front Door diagnostic logs, or DNS logs and observe whether the failures occur around the same time for the same DNS record.

If you think the issue is with TTL, please try to reduce it to a lower value. This will make DNS servers refresh the record more frequently, reducing the chances of cached outdated records being used.

Please verify your DNS settings once again and make sure that there are no issues with the propagation, and that the DNS record is correctly configured.

Also please verify your Front door endpoint configured properly and make sure that there are no routing problems and also check the back-end pool health.

Monitor the health and performance of DNS resolution to detect the failures.
