User can't see any resource types in the resource type list when trying to create a private endpoint

I have a user who is trying to setup a private endpoint on a keyvault in Azure.

We have setup a development subscription and resource group for him to use. We don't want to give him full access to the subscription, but want him to be able to manage keyvaults, private endpoints etc.

I have setup the permissions to allow this access , however when trying to create the private endpoint the Resource Type drop down list under the resource tab is blank and won't allow us to continue until something is selected which we are unable to.

We have also tried with the privileged roles of Owner, and Contributor which is what has been suggested in other posts but we still can't access the drop down.

    Hey Greg Hunt

    Greetings

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform. Thank you for reaching out & I hope you are doing well.

The issue you're experiencing with the blank Resource Type dropdown when creating a private endpoint for a Key Vault is likely related to permissions.

    1. Required Roles and Permissions:

Ensure the user has the following roles:

    • Key Vault Contributor or Key Vault Administrator
    • Network Contributor (for managing private endpoints)
    • Private DNS Zone Contributor (if you're using Azure Private DNS Zones)

NOTE: Can't see list of users or groups when adding permissions in Access Control in the Azure portal
