We are going to upgrade to Configuration Manager version 2403. But the prerequisite check is failed, it shows that the OS version is unsupported.

We are using Configuration Manager version 2403 now. The primary server is also our SQL server, running Windows server 2012 R2. We also have several DPs and MPs that are Windows server 2016.

Do I need to upgrade the server OS before upgrading?

    Yes, you should upgrade.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

==>Do I need to upgrade the sever OS before upgrading?

Yes, we need to upgrade all the site system OS to Windows server 2016 or later before upgrading to Configuration Manager version 2403. Starting with version 2403, the SCCM upgrade is blocked in the hierarchy that is running site roles on Windows Server 2012/2012 R2. In simple words, Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 operating systems won’t be supported for installing SCCM roles anymore.

For more detailed steps, please refer to:

    Best regards,
