How do you setup the target migrate appliance

Question

I m trying to test the Azure migrate to move some VMs from a Hyper-Y 2022 host to a new HCI cluster running HCI 23H2. I have created an Appliance on the Original Host and can discover the server VMs to move. I created a migration Appliance on the destination HCI Cluster, but when I try to replicate the server It cannot find a Target Appliance. My appliance is created on the cluster and registered. It will work for discovery on the new cluster, but not as a target. What did I miss?

There are two different Appliances that have the same install file names. Make sure you have a source appliance and a target appliance. They look much the same, but they are not.

Verify that the Source Appliance is installed on the old Hyper-V 2022 server where the VMs are located, and that the Target Appliance is installed on the new HCI 23H2 cluster where the VMs are deployed. If the devices are replaced, the migration will not work. 

Both devices must be registered in your Azure Migrate project. Check in the portal to make sure the target machine is listed under your migration project. If it disappears, you will need to re-register. 

Confirm that the two devices can communicate over the network by pings from one to the other. If there are network issues, such as firewalls blocking the connection, replication will fail. 

The source appliance must be configured to detect and copy the VMs, while the target appliance must be configured to accept them. Double check the settings of both devices to make sure they are doing their jobs. 

If the problem is still not resolved, check the device logs in the Azure Migrate portal. The logs can provide specific error messages to help determine the cause of the problem, whether it is registry, connection, or configuration related

I apologize for the confusion. Based on your description, it appears that you created a migration appliance on the destination HCI cluster, but when you try to recreate the server, you cannot find the target appliance

To resolve this issue, please ensure that the target device is created on the destination HCI cluster and registered in your Azure Migrate role. The target device is used to retrieve and migrate updated data.

Additionally, please ensure that the source appliance and target appliance are configured correctly. The source machine must be configured to find and register VMs, while the target machine must be configured to accept them. Double check the settings of both devices to make sure they are doing their job.

If the problem is still not resolved, you can view the device logs in the Azure Migrate portal. The logs can provide specific error messages to help determine the cause of the problem, whether it is registry, connection, or configuration related.
