Our outgoing Teams calls are being marked as spam.

How can we configure our OUTGOING calls to not be seen as spam.

People OUTSIDE of our organizations are seeing our calls as SPAM.

We make a call to someone OUTSIDE of our organization and the people receiving the call (outside of our organization) see the call as SPAM.

How do we fix this?

    According to our research, there are several possible reasons why an outgoing call may show up as spam:

    • A call recipient manually blocks your number using a call blocking app.
    • Carriers identify that you have been making too many outbound calls that match spam profiles.
    • One of your numbers was erroneously flagged.

    Meanwhile, there are a few possible solutions that you can try:

    • Changing the phone numbers you use to call potential customers throughout the day can help keep them below your carrier's calling threshold and reduce the chances of recipients flagging specific numbers.
    • Verify and update caller ID: Make sure your organization has the correct caller ID information configured in Microsoft Teams, including the company name and phone number. This helps the recipient identify incoming calls.
    • Use a certified phone number: Make sure you're using a certified phone number, not a temporary or unfamiliar number. You can contact your phone service provider to ensure your number isn't flagged as spam.
    • Notify the other party in advance: Before you make a call, notify them via email or text message that you're calling and explain the purpose of the call. This reduces the chances that they'll mistake your call for spam.

    Make sure your organization’s phone number and Caller ID settings are correctly configured in Microsoft Teams. A generic or incomplete Caller ID may cause calls to be flagged as spam. To check and update:

    • Go to the Microsoft Teams Admin Center.
    • Navigate to Voice > Calling policies.
    • Under Caller ID policies, ensure that your organization’s name and phone number are correct.
