I was Trying to uninstall Microsoft visual studio 2010 Service pack 1 , but its not getting uninstalled.

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Please search CMD in Windows Search box and open it as administrator. Use cd command to navigate to the folder where the VS 2010 SP1 web installer file stored, run following command => Setup.exe /uninstall /force and check if VS 2010 SP1 can be successfully uninstalled(kindly note to replace "Setup.exe" to the specific name of the VS 2010 SP1 web installer on your machine).

The web installer file might be stored here: C:\ProgramData\VS\vs10sp1\SetupCache

I have tried with the command C:\ProgramData\VS\vs10sp1\SetupCache>Setup.exe /unintsall. but getting another error

Hi @Avinash Kalathummarathu,

The error message seems indicate that the SP1 hasn't been installed, so it failed to be uninstalled.

Could you please double confirm that if Microsoft visual studio 2010 Service pack 1 was installed on your machine. You can try to check in Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.

If you find it in Control Panel, you can try following:

Right click it, see if it provides options like modify/change/uninstall. Try to uninstall it by selecting corresponding options.

If you don't find it, may I know how you confirm that SP1 was installed but it's not getting uninstalled?

As VS 2010 Professional is an old version of VS, it's possible that the web installer fails to find the corresponding resource online.

yes VS2010 professional is installed, and you can see service pack 1 also installed from the below screenshot.

In Control Panel, if you right-click Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1, is there any option like Uninstall and Change? If so, if you click to uninstall it, will it work?

@Avinash Kalathummarathu, what happened when you clicked “Uninstall/Change”, was there any error message?

Except Uninstalling, does VS 2010 or VS 2010 SP1 provide Repair option(Maybe after you click the “Uninstall/Change” option)? If so, I think you can try to repair them(VS 2010 and VS 2010 SP1) first and then uninstall SP1.

Besides, if you launch VS 2010 and click Help -> About, will you see SP1 or “SP1 Rel” related version name?

I am thinking if some necessary files or folders were removed, may be related to SP1, and this causes that the system fails to locate SP1.

If you still have the setup file of VS 2010 SP1(called like vs10sp1-kb983509.exe), try to replace the "C:\ProgramData\VS\vs10sp1\SetupCache\Setup.exe" file when you run the command(Setup.exe /uninstall /force => vs10sp1-kb983509.exe /uninstall /force).

I tried repairing also, but not worked. finally, i was able to delete it by removing all the registry related to 2010 service pack. Thank you very much for your help and support.
