SCSM 2022 and SCOR 2022 Object Update Issue

Hi,

I have create two new CI CLASS for Active Directory User on SCSM 2022.

Primary SMTP E-Mail Address
Distinguished Name of OU

User's image

Now I will import Datas from Active Directory to the newly created Extensions using with Orchestrator Runbook.

Here is my Runbook for the CI CLASS Primary "SMTP E-Mail Address"

Get User activity from Active Directory

User's image

Get Object activity from SC 2022 Service Manager

selected the newly created CI Class "SMTP E-Mail Address"

filter by UPN equals {User Principal Name from "Get User”}

Update Object activity from SC 2022 Service Manager

selected the newly created CI Class "SMTP E-Mail Address"

selected Guid = {SC Object Guid from “Get Object”}

added a field: PrimarySmtpAddress {Email from “Get User”}

But it does not import the E-Mails to the newly created "SMTP E-Mail Address"

Is anything on my Runbook wrong?

Hi,

I suspect that the above runbook did not return the correct information from Get User activity. Based on my experiments, if no information is provided, Get User activity returned list is entirely empty. However, by adding a filter, it is possible to loop through and retrieve values.

I suggest confirming by sending event logs to verify the returned values and the number of iterations.

Hi,

Thank you for your replay.

I just test it with Evenlog as following

If I put by Value "Administrator" I can see on the log in SCOH Runbook,

Relation= Equals

Distinguished Name:

User Principal Name

EMail

Relation= Contains

No enough Informations

Relation= does not equal

it is showing nothing, it will not run

If I put by Value my domain username

It show me the information of my domain username, but it show the "local Admin Account ( we have on our company a domain account and a local admin account)

for example: domain account is called: "mdavid", and the local admin account: "Adminmdavid"

The Runbook show me the Informations of "Adminmdavid", althouth I put on the Value the domain account "mdavid"

I really not know why.

Could I please ask if you can to test it on your environment any try to update the Primary email Address on the new Class on the SCSM?

Or you can tell me what should put on the "Get User" Activity to test it for one user.

I dont want to run for all user on my production.

Hi,

Thank you again for your replay. But I dont need to display or update the "User Principal Name" on the new created SCSM CI CLASS, I need to update the e-mail address. The User principal name is on our company no e-mail address.

I have tested again some other options, still cannot update my CI CLASS on the SCSM

What I want to do, is to update that CI CLASS from Active directory

What you mean i with User Principal name is the following

I dont want to update the User Pricipal Name on the SCSM

But I have still issue with "Get User" step. What should add in that step to get user by Filter information?

What did you set on your "Get User" step by Filtering?

Please be sure, I cannot set by Filtering the "User Principal Name" as I mention above.

I see on your screen shots, you are using "User Principal Name".

I mean the "User Principal Name" is different as the SMTP E-mail Address.

Hi,

Instead of filtering by 'User Principal Name,' you can filter users by Display Name, Email, First Name, Last Name, and more.

I am really not sure how it is working on your test environment, but on my machine does not work. Please help to resolve it

My Runbook

my Get User first Filter "Display name" the Value : mdavid

the second Get User Filter: "Email" , the Value: m.david@dum.com

the Get Object

my send event log

The description for Event ID 1 from source Orchestrator Runbook cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

I have some issue after ruining my Runbook with the following

Outlook (disconnected from Exchange) and cannot send e-mails internally

Exchange (outlook display , disconnected from Exchange Server)

It is very strange and I am not sure why. Is that because I use by Get User the e-Mail as Filtering? or User principal name?

I have to mention I have some issue with your screen shot you populated here.

They are every time different as before.

Please answer my following questions

Are my settings I used for Get User, Get Object, Send event log (screen shots I send before) wrong or correct?

-You can use any filter criteria to locate the target class.

The Send Event Log Message activity should be configured on the machine where you want to log the events. Typically, this would be the machine where the Orchestrator runbook is executed or where the relevant application is running. This ensures that the event logs are recorded locally and can be easily accessed for troubleshooting or auditing purposes.
