Cross-Subscription VM Migration

Hello,

I have a handful of Azure virtual machines that currently reside in a vnet in a LOB subscription. I want to migrate those virtual machines to a central corporate subscription as well as attach those virtual machines to a new vnet. Some virtual machines are in the same region as the destination vnet or others are not. I am reading in this article that I would also need to move the vnet as well. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/management/move-limitations/virtual-machines-move-limitations?tabs=azure-cli

Is there a way to move azure virtual machines to a new subscription and vnet without moving the existing vnet? Has anyone been able to do this successfully, what steps did you follow?

In short - no - this is not possible. You cannot have Azure VMs in one subscription connected to a virtual network that exists in another subscription. Azure doesn't support it.
