VM will not start on Windows 11

I am trying to build a Win10 VM with Hyper-V on Windows 11. Using Hyper-V I created a machine accepting all the defaults.

I have assigned 4096 mb of memory on a computer that has 8192 mb of physical RAM. Whenever I try to start it, I receive an error that there is not enough memory in my system to start the VM.

I have tried doubling this number and halving it as well as changing the weighting. Nothing helps.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi Aaron Frank,

    Thanks for your post.

Please open Task Manager and switch to the Performance tab to see if there is enough available memory for your VM. Note that Windows will not free memory automatically for your VMs and doubling the VM memory will cause your VM to require more memory to start.

You can reduce the memory of the VM to get it to start, however this may result in a decrease in the performance of the VM or close some applications to meet the VM's memory requirements.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue
