Use case:

I uploaded a .sql file on the company's SharePoint in order to share it with my colleagues / collaborate on the query with them.

when opening it in SQL Server Management Studio 18 i can edit it, but cannot re-safe it, as it is "locked by another user or the file was checked out".

User's image

  • I do have full rights, also tried it with admins, didn't work fror them either
  • no one locked the file as i just created it
  • it is not checked out
  • when saving it on my locally or on my own OneDrive i don't get an error

Any ideas?

thank you in advance!

kind regards

David

Hi @Pein David,Make sure the file is closed on all your devices. If the error still occurs, wait a few minutes for the server to release the lock on the file. (Sometimes the server thinks you have the file open, and just needs to catch up with what’s really going on.)

Since the document is shared over sharepoint, and another user might have opened it also could cause the issue.
