Issue with Establishing VPN Connection via GlobalProtect on Azure Remote Machine

Question

I have connected to a remote machine on Azure service and I’m trying to establish a VPN connection to my client site using the GlobalProtect VPN tool. However, whenever I try to connect, I lose access to the remote machine, and the GlobalProtect connection is getting aborted.

I’ve been trying since morning, but I’m unable to establish a successful connection.

Could you please let me know how to resolve this?

From your verbatim,

• You are using a 3rd party VPN on a Azure VM
• And not Azure VPN Gateway P2S

Observation,

• It appears when you connect to the 3rd party VPN Tool, it routes all traffic via the VPN
• Hence, I assume RDP via Internet breaks.
• However, as next steps, I would suggest you reach out to the 3rd party's support/forums to understand how to set up VPN on VMs where Internet is required (for RDP)
• Additionally, you can also
  • RDP to a different testVM or JumpVM in the same VNET
  • From this VM, RDP to the targetVM via Private IP Address
  • And try to connect to the 3rd party VPN
• If the above
  • works, it means the VPN is routing internet bound traffic via the VPN, Causing RDP via Internet to fail
  • does not work, it means the VPN is routing internet bound traffic as well as private traffic via the VPN
