  1. Running as administrator doesn't help.
  2. Checking the integrity of the operating system says there are no problems.
  3. Disabling antiviruses and/or the Internet does not help.

If I run the installer from the system C drive, the program starts and closes quickly without outputting anything. If I run the program from another disk, the program starts and looks as shown in the screenshot, and then closes.

I searched the entire Internet and tried all possible solutions, nothing helps. Hope someone can help me!

    Hi @Anton Rahulin,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

Could you find the Visual Studio Installer folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer?

If so, please try to run the vs_installershell.exe file to launch your Visual Studio Installer.

Besides, please put the .exe file into the English folder or put the .exe file in root of C drive like C:\setup.exe.

    Then, run it as administrator.

You can check if your Windows Modules Installer service is running:

    1. Type Services.msc in the start search box and run it as administrator.
    2. Navigate to Windows Modules Installer service and double-click on it.
    3. Set the Startup type to Manual

    Sincerely,

    Anna

Hello! I was able to solve my problem.

Where it all started. I already had Visual Studio 2022. When I tried to update or uninstall it, I encountered an unknown error in the installer. Therefore, I decided to remove everything manually, for which I paid the price - the new installer did not open anywhere at all.

How I solved my problem: I did a restore of Windows 11 to the day when I still had Visual Studio.

As a result, I returned to the original unknown error. This time I was able to find a report about it:Screenshot 2024-09-07 233434

I downloaded the new installer from the official website and installed the updated Visual Studio 2022 over the old one, and then deleted the old one.

What problem remains: the installer cannot be launched from the system drive C, no matter where it is, even if I run it as an administrator. The installer runs only on drive D, although Visual Studio itself is installed and runs from drive C.

Despite this, my problem can be considered solved, because I was able to install Visual Studio 2022. I hope the screenshot above, the description of the problem and the solution (if it can be called such) will help you figure out what the problem is. Thanks for the feedback and help!
