Error accessing IMAP from New Outlook

Trying to access my Axigen powered email through IMAP from the New Outlook gives me this weird error message.
It says,
Log in failed
Then below the red dot
Something went wrong. Try again. You might need an app password.
What do I do with that? I’m logged in to Outlook, I use the proper password for the Axigen account and the, for my account, correct server names and ports.
Accessing it from the “old” Outlook works fine.
