I am trying to follow the directions for setting up Office Web Server.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeonlineserver/configure-office-online-server-for-sharepoint-server-2016/configure-server-to-server-authentication-between-office-online-server-and-share#configure-sharepoint-server-to-use-the-certificate-for-server-to-server-authentication

It says I need to run the command twice. Once for SharePoint and once for SQL.

The command for Sharepoint works.

I do not understand this article because I don't know WHERE. The SQL portion fails to run on the Sharepoint server.

It doesn't make sense that it would be the SQL server.

Have you received the error when run PowerShell to register SQL Server as trusted token issuer in the SharePoint farm?

Per my knowledge, when you configure the SharePoint farm, it creates a connection with the SQL Server.

So, just follow the Microsoft article to run PowerShell to register SQL Server as trusted token issuer in the SharePoint farm.

Could someone answer the question that isn't Microsoft just trying to close the thread?

    The article doesn't say WHY.

The article doesn't say anything real about SQL server and why that suggestion even exists.

    I have my answer now.

The part mentioned about SQL Server is ONLY if you are using SSL for your SQL Connections.

The document doesn't really reflect that idea.
