ImageI have Office 2016. For some reason when I upgraded to Win 11 from Win 10, Office now says I have to have a SharePoint document cache and won't let me change any options. I have repaired Word using the online method and there is no improvement. I am not allowed to specify a server drafts location [and creating a new folder in appropriate location therefore won't work].

Although there are earlier error reports than this one, none of those suggestions work. I do not want Office 365. I do not and have not had Sharepoint. All documents/files are stored locally.

    Hi @M P Bumsted

Have you tried to add the "Location" registry value?

If not, please try and have a look:

    • Close all Office apps, search and open ”Registry Editor“.
    • Locate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Common\Offline\Options
    • Right click on blank space, choose New > String, enter Location as its name.
    • Double click on "Location", add the path to your local folder.

(Important! Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur. )

After change the location, please whether the SharePoint file cache message persists.
