I have a sql managed instance and virtual cluster stuck on delete for over 24 hours. I'm not sure the details leading up to this, but the SQL MI was created, but now it shows deleting and is stuck there.

The managed instance is showing it is in deletion phase:

The ongoing operation is the virtual cluster deletion is in progress:

Trying to cancel this operation results in this:

Trying to delete the managed instance via Azure CLI results with ServerNotInSubscription. It seems this deletion process is stuck in limbo. Any suggestion on getting this removed? There are no resource locks. We currently do not have a support plan but hoping the community can provide additional details. I suspect this may be an issue only support can resolve.

    Hi @Jeff Brown Tech ,
Locking can sometimes prevent the deletion of a managed instance. I understand you mentioned there are no resource locks, but could you please cross-verify at the resource group level, virtual cluster level, and networking level?

    Thank You

Following up on this, the managed instance and virtual cluster remove operations eventually cleaned themselves up and were removed. I did have to remote the vnet, nsg, and route table manually.
