Hi

Can suggested contacts be disabled/removed at a tenant level. Alternatively could external contacts be removed from the suggested list? This is to solve an issue in Outlook, however, will it impact other M365 apps. Advice is appreciated.

    Hi @Helen McMahon ,

Disabling the Suggested Contacts feature in Office 365 for all users can be done through individual user settings, but there's no global setting to disable it for all users at once. Here are the steps for individual users:

    1. Go to Settings > General > Privacy and data.
    2. Under Privacy and data, select the account you want the settings applied to.
    3. Under Suggested people, select Clear data and turn off. (If this is already set to off and you want to turn it on, select Activate expanded contacts suggestions.)

Note: Saved personal contacts will still be suggested under suggested contact search unless that contact is deleted (see Create, view, and edit contacts and contact lists in Outlook).

More information, see: Manage suggested recipients in the To, Cc, and Bcc fields

The current solution does not clear people suggestion (spend a month with Microsoft Support chasing this bug). But a fix is currently (october 2024) rolling out:
