Hello,

I have encountered with this problem recently where "Documents" library contains "MediaGeneratedMetadata" and "MediaUserMetadata" columns, and its column type is changed to 'Text'. I have generally seen or seeing that the column type for these two columns are 'Note' however in some cases its 'Text'. I am unable to find the exact cause that when the type is being 'Text'. I think this is happening recently it wasn't earlier. Could you please check and let me know in what cases the column type will be changed to 'Text'?

Thanks in advance! Yuvraj

In the SharePoint, there is no column type called Note. Here are existing column types in the SharePoint.

Under common circumstance, the column type will not change automatically. Please go to Document settings -> Column section to check the column type.

And you could provide some screenshots about columns to troubleshoot the issue.

Whether "MediaGeneratedMetadata" and "MediaUserMetadata" columns are list columns or site columns?

If "MediaGeneratedMetadata" and "MediaUserMetadata" columns are site columns and manually be added into some lists, they can be changed into single line of text column.

Go to the list -> Select the multiple line of text column -> Column settings -> Edit -> Type -> Change it as single line of text.

The check column activities, go to Microsoft 365 admin center -> Compliance -> Audit -> In the Activities, choose Update list columns -> In the File, folder, or site, fill in the site URL.
