Multiple times a year our organisation will have change freezes where patches are not allowed to be applied to any systems. Because we manually patch now it isn't an issue but moving towards Azure Update Manager what would be a really easy way of cancelling schedules so that machines don't get patched when you don't want them to? I know I could delete the configurations, but that would mean recreating them after the change freeze is done.

Hi, You can change the Start on date for existing Maintenace configuration. That way you can set date that is after the freeze you are having. It is best to modify that date 30 mins before an actual deployment has started. Thank you for this. What do you mean by IaC?
Changing start dates definitely seems like a good option, thank you. Do you reckon there's a way to do that at scale so I don't have to individually go into each configuration?

By IaC I mean Infrastructure of code using things like Azure Bicep, Terraform or some other thing. These allows you to do deployments at scale but if you are not familiar with that approach it could be overwhelming initially when starting with them. For editing stuff at bulk you can use things like Azure PowerShell, for example Update-AzMaintenanceConfiguration cmdlet edits existing configurations. Az CLI is another option.

Hi Stanislav, I have been testing this scenario too as we want to move to Automated Patching, however I am having issues with the patches still running when you change the start time to within a minute of the scheduled start date. Do you know if the updates can still be postponed or disabled temporarily. I am testing this as if there is a service affecting outage then we will not want to run the Automated Patches.
