When selecting multiple shape objects in Microsoft Word, the program starts to slow down. Even with just 5-6 objects selected - the more objects I try to select, the slower it works. The issue did not exist in previous versions of MS Office. The computer is running Windows 11 with Office 2021, and has an i9-14900K processor with 128GB RAM.

Try work with Shapes in Drawing Canvas by Insert>Shapes>New Drawing Canvas. It runs smoothly.

    Hi,

Have you ever installed other versions of Office on the same machine?

It is recommended that you check whether you have installed the third-party add-in for Office. Try to open it in safe mode running the following command: Press Win + R, type "winword /safe" in the blank box, press Enter. If it works fine in safe mode, please check the add-ins in your Word and disable them.

Click File > Options > Add-Ins on the left side of the dialog. Then click the drop-down arrow at the bottom of the dialog box and select "COM Add-Ins" from the list, then click the GO button. What comes up is a list of COM-Add Ins that are loaded and running. And you can check if you have installed the latest updates.

If the problem persists, it is recommended that you download the Office support tool to completely uninstall Office and then reinstall it.

Just checking in to see if the information was helpful. Please let us know if you would like further assistance.
