On an Azure Enterprise Agreement, the original "Account Owner" and "Enterprise Administrator" is the only identity that can create new subscriptions. For business continuity, we wish to add an additional Account Owner with authority to create subscriptions and manage billing accounts and profiles. We have assigned this identity both the EA and the Account Owner role. When we activate the Account Owner role, the following message is displayed:
The following changes will occur if you activate your account
All azure subscriptions for which you are the account owner will be converted to be managed by Enterprise Agreement.
All subscriptions that include a monthly credit (e.g. Visual Studio, MPN, BizSpark, etc.) will lose the monthly credit by proceeding.
All subscriptions based on a Visual Studio subscriber offer (monthly credit for Visual Studio subscriber or Pay-As-You-Go Dev/Test) will be converted to use the Enterprise Dev/Test offer.
If you wish to retain the monthly credits currently associated with any of your subscriptions, do not activate this account.
Activating your account is an irreversible action. Please ensure all the prerequisites are met and you are activating to the correct enterprise enrollment.
Due to this warning, we are proceeding with caution. While we have many subscriptions under the Enterprise Agreement, we don't have any subscriptions of type "Visual Studio, MPN, BizSpark, etc." that I can see.
We do have one personal subscription that has been deleted. It is in a disabled state.
We also have a couple EA subscription that have been deleted and are in the disabled state.
We also have one active subscription that falls under "Azure Plan" and not the Enterprise Agreement. I don't have access to the billing account or billing profile for this subscription. I am the Azure subscription owner but I am not the "Account Owner" for this subscription. I do not want to impact this subscription in any way.
I am hoping for advise on what due diligence I should take prior to activate my "Account Owner" account in Azure Cost Management and Billing since it is a irreversible action. As far as I can tell, activating the account will only have the desired affect of adding an additional account owner to the EA. However, since I have never activated an account I am looking for some guidance or reassurance or additional information on this topic.
Thanks for any advice.
