Automatic Email Notifications After Copied Share Link

Hi,

I had an issue where the I was sharing a file and by just copying the link Sharepoint sent an email notification to all the users to whom I was granting access to. I didn't intend for this as I wish to keep the list of users private from one another.

How do I turn off automatic email notifications from sending to all users granted access to a file?

How can I make it so that these email notifications are sent individually and not to the whole list of users in one email? or is there a way to blank copy (Bcc) just as if it was a normal email?

Thanks in advance,

Diego

To turn off automatic email notifications when sharing files in SharePoint, you can disable Anyone links and use Specific people links instead. This way, users outside your organization will be required to authenticate before accessing the shared content, and email notifications will be sent only to the specific people you share the link with.

To disable Anyone links, follow the steps below:

    1. In the SharePoint admin center, in the left navigation, select Sharing.
    2. Set the SharePoint external sharing settings to New and existing guests.
    3. Click Save.

To share files using Specific people links, follow the steps below:

    1. In the SharePoint document library, select the file you want to share.
    2. Click the Share button.
    3. In the Share dialog box, click the drop-down arrow next to "Anyone with the link can edit" and select "Specific people".
    4. Enter the email addresses of the people you want to share the link with.
    5. Click Send.

Note that email notifications will be sent to the people you share the link with, but they will not see the email addresses of the other recipients.

    Hi @Diego Colon,

Thank you for posting in this community.

Unfortunately, when we give some users access to a file by sharing it, we are bound to send an email.

However, we can grant access and remove notifications by managing access.

1.Select the file and right-click the mouse to choose Manage access.

    2.Grant Access.

    3.Uncheck Notify People.

Also, when you send an email while sharing, the send address of the email will show multiple users, which is designed by SharePoint, and we can't change it. Unless you only share to one user at a time.

Although I uncheck the 'Notify people' button, it will become checked when I enter an email. I think there is a bug.
