To turn off automatic email notifications when sharing files in SharePoint, you can disable Anyone links and use Specific people links instead. This way, users outside your organization will be required to authenticate before accessing the shared content, and email notifications will be sent only to the specific people you share the link with.
To disable Anyone links, follow the steps below:
- In the SharePoint admin center, in the left navigation, select Sharing.
- Set the SharePoint external sharing settings to New and existing guests.
- Click Save.
To share files using Specific people links, follow the steps below:
- In the SharePoint document library, select the file you want to share.
- Click the Share button.
- In the Share dialog box, click the drop-down arrow next to "Anyone with the link can edit" and select "Specific people".
- Enter the email addresses of the people you want to share the link with.
- Click Send.
Note that email notifications will be sent to the people you share the link with, but they will not see the email addresses of the other recipients.
