Hello,

I just plan to finally upgrade my Hyper-V Windows 10 VM to an Windows 11 VM.

The Windows 10 VM ist already running as a Gen2 VM.
I cannot upgrade to Windows 11 because the TPM is not yet enabled in the VM.

However as soon as I enable TPM for the VM, I get the error
the computed authentication tag did not match the input authentication tag (0xC000A002)

together with a cryptic ID of the virtual computer.

I have already tried https://deploywindows.com/2015/11/13/add-virtual-tpm-in-windows-10-hyper-v-guest-with-powershell/

however the result is still unchanged.
Any ideas how I can tweak the TPM to accept the correct authentication tag?

Best regards
Michael

    Hello there,

The error message you encountered, "The computed authentication tag did not match the input authentication tag (0xC000A002)," indicates an issue during the upgrade process from Windows 10 to Windows 11. This error is typically related to the integrity check of the upgrade files.

To troubleshoot this issue, you can try the following steps:

Verify system requirements: Ensure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for Windows 11. Check factors such as processor compatibility, RAM, storage, and TPM (Trusted Platform Module) version. Windows 11 has stricter requirements compared to Windows 10.

Check for Windows 10 updates: Make sure your Windows 10 installation is up to date with the latest patches and updates. Some updates may be necessary for a successful upgrade to Windows 11.

Run the Windows 11 Upgrade Assistant: Instead of relying on Windows Update, you can try using the Windows 11 Upgrade Assistant tool provided by Microsoft. This tool performs a compatibility check on your system and assists in upgrading to Windows 11.

Disable security software: Temporarily disable any third-party antivirus or security software running on your system. Sometimes, these programs can interfere with the upgrade process. Once disabled, attempt the upgrade again.

Perform a clean boot: A clean boot starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, which can help identify and eliminate potential conflicts during the upgrade. Follow the instructions provided by Microsoft to perform a clean boot and then try upgrading to Windows 11.

Hope this resolves your Query !!

    Hi All,

I am also facing the same issue, once i enable TPM it says

Failed to start the worker process, the computed authentication tag did not match the input authentication tag. Followed by virtual machine ID

Any one has fixed this issue, it will be great if i get the solution.
