Hi,

We are trying to upgrade SSRS from 2012 to 2019 & everything went fine except with Reports generated in the PDF format.

We are getting error "There was an error opening this document. This file is damaged and could not be repaired."

When tried to open the reports in workstations we are getting errors stating file is damaged, but we can open these report in web browser.

These reports are working fine in 2012.

Seems related to below article:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/unable-to-open-pdf-report-in-acrobat-reader/td-p/11428231

Is there anyway to fix these reports or changes we can make to SSRS for supporting legacy reports?

    Hi @vk8536

I'm sorry I don't know much about Acrobat readers.

I did a simple test, my environment is sql server 2019 and SSRS 2019.I downloaded the following version of the reader, but I can't reproduce your error, it was able to successfully open my simple report exported to PDF format.

Could it be a version issue with Adobe Acrobat? Reporting Services supports Adobe Acrobat 11.0 or later.

For more details, you can refer to this link: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/report-builder/exporting-to-a-pdf-file-report-builder-and-ssrs?view=sql-server-ver16.

    Best regards,

    Aniya
