Redis 7.0 support roadmap

Redis 7.0 was released in April 2022. When can we expect Azure Cache for Redis to provide support for this version?

I'm running into dependencies that require at least Redis 6.2 support and can't use them with this service.

Hi, @GeethaThatipatri-MSFT I'm also running into dependencies that require at least Redis 6.2 support. I need GEOSEARCH and GEOSEARCHSTORE commands that are missing in Redis 6.0.2

Thanks for the information. It's disappointing that MS/Azure isn't prioritizing at least keeping up with recent versions of tools like Redis. I'll have to re-evaluate my usage of these services. I can't wait 3-9 months for this to get released.

We are trying to roll out support for Redis 7.x in Azure Cache for Redis this year, however, we do not have any ETA yet.

We also have dependency issue with latest version of Sidekiq (RubyOnRails) https://github.com/sidekiq/sidekiq which requires at least Redis 6.2

We need at least redis 6.2.5 to support SortedSetInsertBehavior.NewOrGreater and SortedSetInsertBehavior.NewOrSmaller

For Redis cache version 7.x enterprise we are targeting this summer and we are planning on supporting redis version 7.x for other tiers, but we do not have a timeline we can share yet.

It will be updated in the Redis cache ms documentation once available.

It's been 2 years and all tiers other than enterprise are stuck on 6.0.2 while on AWS they allow to use Valkey 8 already
