Hello,

I had an issue with Dsound.dll with a windows pop up telling me it's missing while launching an gaming app. However dsound.dll is existing in c:\windows\system32 .

I made a ticket and with a microsoft support person he advised me to install an another version of windows 11 (multi edition ISO) .

Unfortunately my key cd is only for Windows 11 pro edition.

i think the only solution is to buy another edition?

thanks in advance for your replies i will stay tuned to the topic .

    Hello there,

Please follow the methods to fix the issue:

    Method 1: I would suggest to re-register the .dll’s:

    Click on Start, then Run.

Now all you have to do to register a DLL file is to type in the regsvr32 command, followed by the path of the DLL file. : regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\dsound.dll

    Hit OK.

Method 2: Run SFC scan in the computer

Use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows

Do other games/web pages/apps play sound ok? Or is it just that one game? Does the Windows Media Player work ok?

Have you had problems with Windows Updates? Have you installed the latest updates?

Open a command prompt with "run as administrator" and run this command to search for all instances of that dll.

    dir c:\dsound.dll /b /s /a

On my Win11 pc I find it in system32, SysWOW64, and several other instances in various c:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft-windows-audio folders.

If you don't find it in SysWOW64, or if you find other copies in folders like C:\Program Files\TheGameThatYouArePlaying, then that might be a problem.

Does the game that you are playing have a support web site or a discussion forum? It might be worthwhile to ask a question in that forum to see if other users have a similar problem with the game.

    Thanks for your feed-back,

It's only one game that encounter the problem.

People says on reddit to install Microsoft professionnal N Version fix the problem.

However i didn't try yet to function this Version with my window professionnal Version.

Moreover my dsound. Dll is present in system32 and syswow64 plus amd64 and wow64.

Keeping you up to date about my research.
