Viva Insights setup checklist
This setup checklist, along with related articles, helps coordinate tasks between the Exchange Online admin, Privileged Role Administrator, Insights Administrator, and the Teams Service Administrator to get Viva Insights rolled out in your organization. After completing all tasks below, you'll have Viva Insights set up for end users, managers and leaders, and admins and analysts.

This checklist helps admins set up all of Viva Insights, including premium and core features. If you just want to set up core features, refer to the Deployment guide for personal insights, Configure personal insights defaults, and Configure Teams app settings.
Setup tasks
- Assign Viva Suite/Insights licenses (Privileged Role Administrator, License admin, or user admin)
- Assign admin and analyst roles (Privileged Role Administrator)
- Assign manager and leader permissions (Insights Administrator)
- Optional – Manage Viva Insights app defaults (Microsoft 365 admin)
- Optional – Set up and deploy the Teams app (Teams Service Administrator)
- Customize Viva Insights settings (Insights Administrator)
- Add organizational data to the advanced insights app (Insights Administrator)
