I have a school account for office 365. Went and got a new phone now authenticator will not work to let me login to office 365 school. It will however work to let me login to my personal account thats still active. I have no way of getting into my school account [Mod Removed - PII] I cannot get ahold of anyone at microsoft customer support which is insane. so i have to post a Q&A to get help. What a disgrace Microsoft.

If you can’t reach your school’s IT team, you can try Microsoft’s account recovery:

    • Go to Microsoft Account Recovery
    • Enter your school email and follow the prompts to request a reset. It sounds like you're locked out of your Office 365 school account because Microsoft Authenticator isn’t recognizing it on your new phone. Here are some steps to regain access: 1. Try Logging in with Backup Methods
      • Visit Microsoft’s account recovery page.
      • Select “Sign in another way” (if available) to check for backup options like email, SMS, or security questions.
      • If you previously set up a backup phone number or alternative email, use that to verify your identity.
      2. Restore from Microsoft Authenticator Cloud Backup If you backed up your accounts in Authenticator on your old phone:
      • Open the Authenticator app on your new phone.
      • Select Restore from backup (Ensure you are using the same Microsoft account as before).
      3. Contact Your School’s IT Support
      • Since this is a school account, only your university's IT team can reset MFA for you.
      • Check your university's IT helpdesk page or contact them via email/phone for a recovery request.
      4. Request MFA Reset via Microsoft Support If you can’t reach your school’s IT team, you can try Microsoft’s account recovery:

    Hey there, TLAILE Mohlala

Please can you reach out to your IT department at school. They will be able to reset your security information on your account where you will be able to reset Authenticator up again.

Please don't post your email address in a public community, especially a school email address. I have removed this.

    Thanks,
    Nathan
