Azure File Share backup data is stored in Recovery Services vaults, which are online-storage entities in Azure. When you set up Azure Backup for an Azure File Share located in a specific region, such as North Europe, the backup data will typically be stored in the same region to ensure compliance and reduce latency. However, the specific physical location within that region can vary, as Azure uses multiple data centers within each region for redundancy and availability.
If you choose geo-redundant storage (GRS) for your backup, the data will be replicated to a secondary region for additional protection against region-wide outages.
