Recurring Meeting Still Appears for Attendees After Cancellation in Outlook

I was the organizer of a recurring meeting in Outlook. A long time ago, I canceled the meeting and removed it from my calendar. However, my attendees still see the recurring meeting in their calendars. Since I was the organizer, is there a way for me to remove these lingering entries from their calendars? But the meeting no longer appears in my calendar. I’d really appreciate any help!

Welcome to our forum!

Please log in to web mail to check if the recurring meeting persists. If it is still not shown, please try to recover it:

1.Check if it is in the Deleted items folder.

2.If it is not in the Deleted items folder, click Deleted items folder > click Recover Deleted Items from Server. If the recurring meeting is shown, select it and click Restore Selected Items to recover it.

If you can find the deleted recurring meeting via the above methods, right-click it > click Move > click Other Folder > select Calendar and click OK.

Then the recurring meeting will be displayed in your calendar. You can cancel it and it will disappear in other attendees' calendar.

If you cannot recover the deleted recurring meeting in Deleted Items folder, i'm afraid that the recurring meeting cannot be canceled in your side.

Thank you for the detailed response. I found a meeting where I was the organizer in a deleted folder. After restoring it and moving it to the calendar, I selected 'Cancel Recurring Meeting.' However, the meeting still appears in other attendees' calendars.

Are the canceled recurring meetings displayed Canceled status on the attendees' calendars as shown in the below image?

If so, this is due to the fact that the participants did not enable the "Automatically accept meeting requests and remove canceled meetings" option via File>Options>Calendar>Automatic accept or decline>Auto Accept/Decline.

Based on the above, the attendees need to delete them manually: right click one of the recurring meeting>click Delete>select Delete the series.

@ChristyZhang-MSFT Thank you for your response. The attendees' status appears as accepted, rather than canceled or tentative. However, the recurring meeting still appears for some attendees, not all.

Are the cancel email sent to the attendees who's status appears as accepted successfully?

@ChristyZhang-MSFT There was only a "Cancel Meeting" option, but no option to send a cancellation email. I believe I can delete it as you initially suggested, but there are too many similar events, making it difficult to verify properly. I plan to personally contact the attendees who still have the event remaining and ask them to cancel it. I regret that I couldn't fully utilize your helpful answer due to my lack of familiarity with Outlook.
