should I keep software related to HP when the computer is changed?

I'm not sure who is the best to ask, but I always get great suggestions from MS so I'll start with you. I have gone through many laptops over the years, and each time I change machines, I transfer the contents of my HDD to the new one.
I am getting messages saying some HP software is not compatible with my Acer, and I need to know if I can just look for software starting with HP in my "Programs & Features" section of the Control Panel, and Uninstall them without negatively affecting my Acer?
