Is the Change to OneDrive shared folder links a permanent downgrade

OneDrive has replaced shared folders with shortcuts on File Explorer. Is this a permanent downgrade, or will you restore the functionality I had when I purchased the product?

If you want to sync the shared folders to local, you need to add shortcuts for them, then these shortcuts will be synced and displayed on File Explorer.

But currently, there is a known issue that shared folders shortcuts showing up as Internet shortcuts, you need to view files in shared folder online instead of opening them via desktop apps.

We are waiting for a fix from the Microsoft development team.
