Disable Bitlocker Windows 11

Question

Thanks everyone for the help with Bitlocker. I had to clear the new laptop and reinstall. I have additional questions. Can someone provide step by step instructions?

1. How do I confirm that I am the adminstrator? And how would I make myself the admin.
2. Now that I cleared out my new laptop and used a 32 GB USB to reinstall. What are the steps to verify that Bitlocker is still on my new laptop?
3. How do I disable Bitlocker so this won't happen again?
4. Can I now use PC Mover again to move my files back from the old laptop to new laptop?

Hello,

If you are not an administrator and want to make yourself one:

Open Control Panel: Search for "Control Panel" in the Start menu and open it.

User Accounts: Click on "User Accounts" and then "User Accounts" again.

Manage Another Account: Select "Manage another account."

Select Your Account: Choose the account you want to change.

Change the Account Type: Click on "Change the account type" and select "Administrator."

Verifying BitLocker Status

Open Control Panel: Search for "Control Panel" in the Start menu and open it.

System and Security: Click on "System and Security."

BitLocker Drive Encryption: Select "BitLocker Drive Encryption." Here, you can see if BitLocker is turned on for your drives.

Turn Off BitLocker: Click on "Turn off BitLocker" for the drive you want to decrypt. Follow the prompts to complete the process.

Using PC Mover to Transfer Files

Yes, you can use PC Mover to move your files back from the old laptop to the new one. Just follow the instructions provided by the PC Mover software to ensure a smooth transfer.
