Hi there,

I already rename the iphone device with new name from intune portal -> Devices -> Properties -> Rename and it shows successful renamed message as : " Rename device to HO-iPhone-xyzxyz: Completed "

But it still showing the old name name in intune portal.

Can anyone suggest me the solution please? I cannot add that iphone in particular group as its not showing with new name.

Thank you

Dikesh

@Dikesh Shrestha, Thanks for posting in Q&A.

Based on my research, if you already renamed the device but don't see its new name, the device might need to check in to Intune. Also, if you have an enrollment profile (iOS) that uses a Device Name Template, the device will be renamed but will revert to using the template upon the next sync with Intune.

And based on my testing, after I did the rename action to my device, I sync the device with Intune and restart it, after that it changes name successfully. So, please go to client device and open Settings > Accounts > Access work or school > find the account > expand the info page > Click Sync, after that wait for few minutes to see if the new devices name appears.

After you have renamed the device, It may take some time to reflect the new name on the Intune Portal. Please wait for at least 8 hours and also try to restart the device once. You can refer to the guide Rename a Windows Device Using Intune which demonstrates the renaming of a Windows device. However, the process and refresh time may remain the same.
