Microsoft Translator app for android.

Since March 2023, I've used the Microsoft Translator app for android, on my Samsung galaxy S21 FE phone. Specifically, I've used the Presenter mode of this app in a church setting, to translate the spoken word, in this case is Vietnamese, into Vietnamese text, in real time. When the Presenter mode is started, it generates a unique 5 letter conversation code, which, among other things, allows other users to join in on their own mobile phone device, pick their desired language and then see the text translated from Vietnamese text into their respective language. With this app, they don't necessarily have to download the Translator app on their phone either, they can simply use a browser on their phone and go to "translate.it" in the browser url and it goes to a Microsoft web page where they can enter the conversation code, a username (which they can just make up), select their desired language and then the spoken Vietnamese is translated into the text of their selected language, which was typically English, I don't know if anyone tried any other output language. This had been working extremely well for our church setting, simple to setup and not a burden for newcomers to use their own phone to have a decent translation. As you might imagine, in this type setting you usually have one way communication, i.e. one speaker and many listeners (text viewers) and you cannot have phones speaking the translation, so voice to text is the way to go.

However, a few months ago, when people logged in to the conversation, i.e. using the app on their phone, the app no longer translated to English. It is showing Vietnamese text. Upon troubleshooting this, I have tried everything, such as reinstalling the app, different languages etc. and I've tried other android phones, iphones etc. none of those worked. Any answers to this issue? Will this work in the presenter mode as before? Is there anything out there that will work just like the MS Translator app in the presenter mode?

    Hello paul gibson2,

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the Microsoft Translator app on your Android device. It's possible that there may have been an update to the app that caused this issue. I recommend checking for any available updates to the app in the Google Play Store and installing them if available.

If the issue persists, you can try resetting the app to its default settings. To do this, go to your device's Settings > Apps > Microsoft Translator > Storage > Clear Data. This will reset the app to its default settings and may resolve the issue.

As for alternatives to the Microsoft Translator app, there are several other translation apps available on the Google Play Store that offer similar features. Some popular options include Google Translate, iTranslate, and Translate Now. However, I cannot guarantee that these apps will work in the same way as the Microsoft Translator app in presenter mode.

    Hope it helps.

    Best regards,

    Lei
