Hi, I have a win 2019 which was updated last week as usual by windows update "2025-02 CU win 2019 1809 x64-based systems KB50502000.

On my desktop, when I usaually fire Hyper-V manager, it connects directly to the server but after rebooting I was not able to connect to hyper-V on the server, I discovered that "HV Virtual Machine Management" service was not running in spite of the fact that it is set to automatic which was the case for several years.

I needed to start it manually then I was able to connect from my desktop to hyper-V on the server. I thought that it is only for this time after the update but it seems not the case as now whenever I reboot the server, I get the ssame exact behavior and need log to server and start the service.

What can be changed by the update that causes this and how it can be fixed?

Thanks in advance

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Based on my understanding of the problem, I suggest you try the following methods to see if it can be solved:

    1. Right-click Windows PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
    2. To reconfigure the service, type: sc.exe config vmms start=auto

If the problem still cannot be solved, I suspect that the problem may be caused by a third-party application. I suggest you open the event log to see if there is any related error information.

I hope the information above is helpful.

    Best regards

    Zunhui
