unable to add a session host to any collection on our rds farm

Hello,

Since 3 days, we can't add any session host to any existing collections on our rds farm (Windows 2022 DataCenter).

we have this message:

the french error message in english => unable to retrieve session collection properties. unable to translate some or all identity references

we have tried many different servers and we have realized that we can add session host by creating a new collection but when the collection is created we can't add others servers.

I haven't found any eventid that show an error on the broker server.

We have tried to reboot the server, unsuccessfully.

I have no idea, i would like help please on how to resolve this problem.

Hello，

Check if you have added your pc into the same domain and add server(menu on the top-right corner of server manager).

If you can confirm every step is all right . You can check logs in your event log and confirm if there's anything interesting.(Application and Services logs -> Microsoft -> windows -> Terminal services-LocalSessionManager / RemoteConnectionManager)

Hello, thank you for your answer, all of our servers are in the same domain. We can add the session host role from the Server Manager Console, it works, we can add session host servers only if we create new collection. That's why i do not understand the process. We can add server from creation collection but not from existing collections. we have a list server that are ready to be adding to collections and they are well configured with the host session role. It doesn't depend on a particular server, all of them can't be added to an existing collection on the farm. I don't find verbose log on the broker, there's no error except recently i have seen event id 802 TerminalServices-SessionBroker, "Remote Desktop Connection Broker fails to process the connection request for the X user. Error: Insufficient system resources to complete the requested service."

There's no log on the TerminalServices-LocalSessionManager.

Let me explain your current doubts：

What “Insufficient system resources” May Mean • Although the error message sounds like a memory or CPU shortage, in the context of the RD Connection Broker (RD CB) it often is a “catch‐all” error. In many cases, it indicates that the Connection Broker isn’t able to properly update its configuration data or enforce the proper settings for a session host that’s being added. • It can be due to misalignment between the settings stored in the RD Broker database and the settings on the session host. When you create a new collection, the configuration is “built from scratch” and pushed consistently to the new members. Adding a server to an existing collection forces the broker to merge the server’s current state into a preexisting set of configuration parameters. If anything doesn’t fall into place, you can get errors—even though, superficially, every server is “ready.”

Differences Between New Collections and Adding to Existing Collections • New collections force a reconfiguration of the session host settings. This refresh, in most cases, overcomes any latent misconfigurations on the host. • In contrast, when a host is added to an existing collection, the Connection Broker has to reconcile its stored session host list with the new server’s state. If there are any discrepancies (for instance, leftover registration information or policy differences), the broker may not “adopt” the server gracefully and it may log a generic failure – in your case, an event id 802 with “Insufficient system resources.”

It is relatively difficult to determine the root cause of the problem, and you may need to check the RDCB database, which is very tedious, and if possible, it is recommended that you recreate the collection as a fix.

hello, thank you for your advices, we have recreated the collection to add the new server. The problem is half solved because for all other collections it is the same problem and we have a lot of collections. How can we check the RDCB database? do you have a tutorial on how to do please?
