Why doesn't SharePoint always show size photo in the data and doesn't show photo full screen?

We load up photo's in SharePoint. All photo's have size 2100x1400 pixels. The size is automatically filled in in the data shown by the photo by SharePoint. But not always and not with every photo. If I open that same foto in Windows Fotoviewer, the size is visible as 2100x1400.

The photo, by which the size is not filled in automatically, is not shown full screen, but smaller.

I can't discover the logic why this happens with some photo's. Same camera, same Lightroom export size of 2100x1400 pixels.

Does anyone recognize this and has a solution for this?

    Hi @Marjon Kunst,

Thanks for reaching out to us. We are very pleased to assist you.

First of all, regarding SharePoint displaying the pixel size of your images, I would recommend that you use a picture library to save your photos.

This particular file library is specialized for saving images and will automatically save the pixel size of the image when you upload it. You can check whether there is a problem with the pixel size of the image you are having problems with.

    User's image

This is the step-by-step process for creating a picture library:

    • Go to site content > New > App User's image
    • Click classic experience. User's image
    • Search picture library and create it. User's image
    • You can go back to your site content and see the newly created picture library. The library defaults to the Tiles view, you can switch to the List view to see the pixel size of the images. User's image

Regarding the display of pictures, SharePoint's main responsibility is to save pictures. SharePoint only has preview functionality for pictures and does not support very granular image viewing.

You can select your picture > Preview > View Original.

    User's image

Alternatively, you can choose to open your pictures in the app. The pictures are synchronized to your OneDrive, and you can download them to your computer and then select your app to open them.
