Issue Summary:

I am attempting to sign up for the Microsoft 365 Developer Program and set up my free E5 subscription, but I am encountering an issue during the phone number verification step. After entering my phone number, I receive the following error message:

"We can't continue with the signup process right now due to an internal server error. Please try again later." MS-CorrelationId: 00000000-0c2f-4132-aeb5-13b919608436 Error Code: 50001

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Navigate to the Microsoft 365 Developer Program Join Page.
  2. Log in using my Microsoft account.
  3. Enter required details, including company name and development preferences.
  4. Proceed to the phone verification step and enter a valid phone number.
  5. Upon submission, I receive the 50001 Internal Server Error, preventing me from completing the signup process.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

  • Tried different web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
  • Cleared browser cache and cookies
  • Attempted incognito/private browsing mode
  • Tried different phone numbers
  • Checked Microsoft Service Status, but no related issues were reported
  • Waited several hours and retried the process multiple times

Request for Assistance:

  • Can you confirm if this is a known issue with the Developer Program signup process?
  • Is there a workaround or a way to manually verify my phone number to proceed with account creation?
  • Are there region-based restrictions that might be causing this issue?

I appreciate any guidance or support on resolving this issue. Thank you for your time!

I am also facing the same issue. I asked Copilot as I was unable to find any answer to this question and this is what it says:

It seems that the Microsoft 365 Developer Program is currently experiencing some changes and limitations. According to recent updates, Microsoft has limited access to the developer subscription to developers and organizations with active subscriptions to Visual Studio Enterprise1. They are also working on updates and improvements to the program, which might be causing some temporary disruptions.

It's not officially on hold, but there might be some temporary issues or changes affecting the signup process. I recommend keeping an eye on the Microsoft 365 Developer Program page for the latest updates and reaching out to Microsoft Support for more specific information regarding your situation.

I am not sure if this makes sense but if anyone of you finds a way to make sure that we can still signup to the developer program then please let me know too.

    TIA,

    Hello,

I have the same issue also from Italy and for Italian mobile number. I have chosen the Office Add-Ins as category.

I have tried twice, with my work account and with my personal microsoft account, and with two different phone numbers. I got the same problem.
