I have a GRS storage account. I'm unable to see the availability zone of the data and resources which are placed in my storage account.

    Hello AK SCIENTIFIC SOL,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum. Thanks for posting your query here!

I understand that you would like to check the availability zone of data and resources in a GRS (Geo-Redundant Storage) account.

    • Navigate to Azure Portal
    • In the left-hand menu, select "Storage accounts" and then choose your GRS storage account.
    • Under the "Settings" section, look for "Configuration" or "Properties." Here, you can find information about the redundancy type and any availability zone settings.

Please be informed that GRS replicates your data to a secondary region, providing high durability and availability. However, it does not inherently use availability zones within the primary region. If you need zone redundancy, consider migrating to RA-GZRS (Read-Access Geo-Zone Redundant Storage), which provides replication across multiple availability zones in the primary region.

Hope the above answer helps! Please let us know do you have any further queries.

    you can check the following

    1. Check the Primary & Secondary Region:
      • Go to Azure Portal → Your Storage Account.
      • Navigate to Geo-replication under the Settings section.
      • You'll see the Primary and Secondary regions where your data is stored.
    2. Check Replication Type:
      • Under Configuration, confirm that Geo-Redundant Storage (GRS) or Read-Access GRS (RA-GRS) is enabled.

    If You Need Zone-Level Redundancy

If you want redundancy across Availability Zones, you need to switch to ZRS (Zone-Redundant Storage) or GZRS (Geo-Zone-Redundant Storage):

    • ZRS: Stores data across different AZs in the same region.
    • GZRS: Combines ZRS with geo-replication to another region.

Check the Primary & Secondary Region:

    • Go to Azure Portal → Your Storage Account.
      • Navigate to Geo-replication under the Settings section.
        • You'll see the Primary and Secondary regions where your data is stored.
        Check Replication Type:
        - Under **Configuration**, confirm that **Geo-Redundant Storage (GRS)** or **Read-Access GRS (RA-GRS)** is enabled.

        - **If You Need Zone-Level Redundancy**

If you want redundancy across Availability Zones, you need to switch to ZRS (Zone-Redundant Storage) or GZRS (Geo-Zone-Redundant Storage):

    • ZRS: Stores data across different AZs in the same region.
      • GZRS: Combines ZRS with geo-replication to another region.
