As an admin, how do I enable Org Explorer if not currently available?

Hey folks,

I keep reading about Org Explorer and the updated requirements (no Viva license required) to use/access but, even with a Viva license included in my Office 365 E5 license I cannot figure out how to get Org Explorer in Outlook. In Microsoft Teams I am able to view an org chart for a user but, as far as I can tell, this is different than Org Explorer app/add-in for Outlook.

I have read the Org Explorer documentation here and I see a note about it possibly being 'turned off' but I've looked in the 365 Admin panel and I can't find anywhere that suggests there is a master ON/OFF switch.

Any input is appreciated. Our HR person is still maintaining a manual org chart which helps nobody and I'd really like to make this available to our teams.

    Welcome to our forum!

    If users have Microsoft Viva enabled, they can also use Org Explorer. Org Explorer doesn't have a specific setup process. Org Explorer can be found as an add-in application in Outlook. You should be able to access it from the navigation bar.

    If you can't find it, follow these steps to check your management license:

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center: Use your admin credentials to log in.
    2. Navigate to Users: In the left-hand menu, select Users.
    3. Select the User: Find and select the user you want to manage.
    4. Manage Licenses: Go to the Licenses and apps tab.
    5. Assign License: If you want to turn on Org Explorer, assign the People in Viva license from the user.
