Duplicate Outlook Reminders

Using Microsoft Office 2019 on a Windows 11 operating system.

I put appointments in my calendar, say for 10 am today. Fifteen minutes before 10 am I get a pop up reminder, that is great. But, it is duplicated! The appointment is not duplicated in my calendar.

What is causing the pop up reminder to be duplicated?

Maybe you can try to download this： In addition, running the command outlook.exe /cleanreminders requires closing Outlook, you may want to try again.

If all above do not work, considering data file corruption, it is proposed that you create a new profile, re-add your account to the new profile and check if the same error still occurs.Hope it helps.

This worked!!!! Great Thank you. It was the close Outlook first.

I tried Resolution 1, it did not help. However, I created a new appointment only a half hour out.

Resolution 2 discuss MAPI, my mail is POP3

Resolution says "ALL" items on the calendar will be removed. But can be downloaded from server.

I cannot loose all calendar items, what server would they be downloaded from? I do use "Companion Link" that syncs mail and calendar with my gmail account. Would I be able to download from Gmail account?

Resolution 2 discuss MAPI, my mail is POP3

MFCMAPI is a tool can be used to modify POP accounts in an Outlook profile. You may need to download the MFCMAPI tool and follow the instructions in the article to have a try.

Would I be able to download from Gmail account?

Yes. Since you use CompanionLink to sync your Outlook calendar with your Gmail account, your calendar data should be stored in your Google Calendar. Clear Offline Items is mainly to clear your local cache data to avoid repeated reminders, and when you reopen Outlook, your calendar events will be regenerated.

In addition, you may go to File>Options>Advanced> Under Reminders, tick the option Automatically dismiss reminders for past calendar events to avoid some repeated reminders.

I tried both,

The MFCMAPI would not run. With this error:

MAPIInitialize failed with error 0x80004005 == MAPI_E_CALL_FAILED.

Here are some known causes for this.

1 - A 64 bit version of Outlook is not installed. The 64 bit version of MFCMAPI only works with a 64 bit version of Outlook.

See https://github.com/microsoft/mfcmapifor the latest 32 bit bit build of MFCMAPI.

2 - Windows Mail is registered as the Default Mail Client.

See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/dd162409.aspx for information on setting the Default Mail Client.

In file C:__w\1\s\MFCMAPI\core\mapi\cache\globalCache.cpp

Then the clear reminders I get this, note it does not show "Automatically dismiss reminders"
