MS Excel Drop Downs/DataValidation

Hi,

for a short period of time we had the luxury in MS Excel that a drop down selection (Data Validation Drop Down and not in a table) would automatically jump to the correct first letter selection when we started typing in the cell with data validation.

We had a few issues with some users experiencing a massive slow down in excel handling speed so our IT dept. decided we move back to an older version of excel to stop the massive slow down.

The version step back did solve the speed issues but the feature that data validation drop downs would jump to the selection based on when we started typing has dissapeared and we do miss it.

Is this a setting we can change somewhere or is this 100% version related?

We currently work on Version 2302 build 16130.21094 on Desktop

Thanks

    Hi @Horak, Franz

The Version 2302 build 16130.21094 does not include Data Validation dropdown list autocomplete feature even the "Enable AutoComplete for cell values" is ticked under Editing options section.

I update Microsoft 365 Apps to Version 2308 (Build 16731.21064) which is released in January 2025, the feature is still available. Animation1

Based on my tests, I suggest you try Version 2402 (Build 17328.20550) on a test machine.
