Managed identities in Azure Container Instances (ACI) are currently in preview. What is the estimated timeline for when this feature will reach General Availability (GA)?

Managed identity in ACI is no longer in preview.

Checking the changes made to the docs we can see the preview references were removed recently.

The mentioning of preview on the settings tab on the portal should also be removed. As per @Vikas Pullagura in below thread https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/1077120/is-managed-identity-in-preview-for-azure-container?utm_source=chatgpt.com, the feedback is shared to the internal team on this.

As of now Microsoft has not announced a definitive date for when Managed Identity support in ACI will transition from preview to GA. Microsoft often does not provide firm GA dates until they are close to finalizing and formally announcing the release.

What you can do in the meantime:

1. Stay tuned to Azure Updates: Check the Azure Updates page or subscribe to relevant Azure blogs and RSS feeds. This is typically where Microsoft shares release timelines and GA announcements first.
2. Monitor official documentation: Microsoft often marks features as “in preview” or “generally available” in their official documentation. Periodically review the Azure Container Instances documentation to spot any status changes.
3. Use the preview features cautiously: While you can already experiment with Managed Identities for ACI in production-like environments, be sure to have contingency plans in place since preview features can change and do not come with the same SLAs as GA offerings.
