Azure Data Factory SnowflakeV2 linked service supports only Basic authentication in data flow, will this changed to key pair as well?

I am using Azure Data Factory and Snowflake for data processing. Currently I am migration the Snowflake connection from the Snowflake legacy linked service to the new SnowflakeV2 linked service because the new linked Service supports key pair authentication.

When I was coming to migrate my datasets that I use within dataflow activities I got an error message that "SnowflakeV2 linked service supports only Basic authentication in data flow."

Is is planned that the new SnowflakeV2 linked service will also support key pair authentication in dataflows in the future? Otherwise I would not make sense for us to migrate.

Your insights or updates on this matter would be greatly appreciated, as it's crucial for our decision-making process.

Thank you for your attention to this issue.

Best regards,

    Hi @Kudras, Stefan

Thanks for the question and using MS Q&A platform.

Currently, the new SnowflakeV2 linked service in Azure Data Factory only supports Basic authentication in data flow activities. However, Microsoft is continuously working on improving and adding new features to Azure Data Factory, so it's possible that key pair authentication support for SnowflakeV2 linked service in data flow activities may be added in the future.

Appreciate if you could share the feedback on our feedback channel. Which would be open for the user community to upvote & comment on. This allows our product teams to effectively prioritize your request against our existing feature backlog and gives insight into the potential impact of implementing the suggested feature.

I recommend keeping an eye on the Azure Data Factory release notes and documentation for any updates on this matter. In the meantime, if key pair authentication is a critical requirement for your data processing, you may want to consider sticking with the Snowflake legacy linked service until the new SnowflakeV2 linked service supports key pair authentication in data flow activities.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.
