Wanted to replicate Azure SQL hosted in UK West to US North central does it need any networking

i have a requirement to sync Azure sql managed db instance data between 2 Regions US and UK replication type Transactional, both the 2 database instances are PEP Enabled with its own VNET. The data replication does it need any network setup between 2 networks or replication happens in background in Azure network. there is not connection between my US VNET and UK VNET , but i wanted the data to be available in US when data is updated in UK.

To set up transactional replication between your Azure SQL Managed Instances in the US and UK regions, you will need to establish network connectivity between the two virtual networks (VNets).

Here are the key points:

Transactional replication requires that the publisher, distributor, and subscriber are able to communicate with each other. Since your US and UK VNets are not connected, you will need to set up VNet peering or use VPN gateways to establish connectivity between the two VNets.

Once the network connectivity is established, you can configure one of your managed instances as the publisher and distributor, and the other as the subscriber. This setup will allow data changes in the UK instance to be replicated to the US instance.

Ensure that the necessary ports (e.g., port 445 for Azure file share access) are open in the Network Security Groups (NSGs) for the managed instances to facilitate replication.

You will also need an Azure storage account for the replication working directory.
